2,675 Disaster Incidents Reported in Nepal Since April, 117 Dead

Kathmandu: From last April to August 24, Nepal has recorded 2,675 disaster incidents, resulting in 117 deaths and 564 injuries. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), 4,725 households have been directly affected during this period.
Fires Lead in Number of Incidents
Fire-related disasters were the most frequent, with 1,066 cases reported. Floods accounted for 198 incidents, claiming 16 lives and leaving 21 people missing. Landslides occurred 281 times, resulting in 13 fatalities.
Variety of Disaster Types
Other recorded incidents include 174 cases of heavy rainfall, 244 lightning strikes, 74 snake bites, 158 forest fires, 276 windstorms, 153 animal attacks, 41 minor landslides, and five earthquakes. Overall, 22 people remain missing from different disaster events.
Recent Data from August 24
On August 24 alone, 35 disasters were reported across the country, including 13 landslides that injured six individuals.
